Tradeworks

TradeWorks is an employer-connected workforce program delivered in partnership with WorkBC and Thompson Rivers University. TradeWorks supports employers by preparing job-ready candidates for entry-level construction and trades roles through foundational training, workplace readiness, and industry-recognized safety certifications. Employers gain access to motivated candidates who are prepared to contribute safely and reliably on site.

TradeWorks is a youth-focused employment program designed to support individuals interested in entering the construction field.

Location: Kamloops

Target Group: Youth interested in construction careers

Eligibility Requirements:

• Unemployed people eligible to work in BC;
• Have established a claim for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits; or
• Have had an EI benefits period that ended within the previous 60 months; or
• Have earned more than $2,000 in insurable earnings and paid employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years (Note: the 5 years do not have to be consecutive years); or
• Receiving BC Employment and Assistance; and
• Support and referral from WorkBC Employment Services Contractor (Work BC) and an Indigenous Skills Employment Training (ISET) Provider.

Program Length: 16-week training program

Focus: Hands-on skills development, industry certifications, and employment readiness

Partnerships: Delivered in collaboration with Thompson Rivers University (TRU), WorkBC, and the Provincial Government
