For years, Colin Reid has presented the John Kjelson Memorial Services award to deserving Y Staff and Volunteers who embody the Core Values of the YMCA; the same values John Kjelson himself exemplified every day in his work with the Kamloops Y. This year, we are pleased to be presenting the John Kjelson Memorial Service Award to Colin Reid.

For nearly two decades, Colin has dedicated himself to serving the YMCA in Kamloops with exemplary leadership and commitment. Colin’s genuine care, unwavering respect, inherent honesty, and strong sense of responsibility shine through in all his actions. He ensures that every individual, regardless of their position, feels heard and valued within the YMCA community, and fosters an environment of inclusivity and collaboration, empowering others to contribute their best.

Whether addressing a large audience at a national conference or pitching in to set up tents for an event, he possesses a unique ability to motivate and uplift those around him. He takes pride in being part of something greater than himself and instills this sense of purpose in others. His consistently motivational words, and reminders to us all that "What we do at the Y matters," reflect his genuine belief in the YMCA's mission and its positive, lasting impact in our community.

Now serving as Vice President of the Kamloops Region of YMCA BC, Colin remains steadfast in his pursuit of a new modern YMCA facility for Kamloops. His passion for the project is palpable, and he tirelessly shares his enthusiasm with everyone around him.
