In 2015, after she completed the YMCA National Yoga Instructor training, Bodil Holst eagerly joined the John Tod Y as a teacher. Since then her fitness classes have earned her the love and respect of all her participants, and her Stretch for Health, Yoga & Fascial Release classes have become immensely popular at the Kamloops Y.
As a professional and experienced instructor, Bodil exudes energy and passion, showcasing her unwavering commitment to her participants. She generously devotes her time to supporting her fellow volunteers, readily stepping in to teach their classes when they are unavailable.
Bodil is an integral part of the "Friendship Circle" at the Y, where members gather after class for coffee and engage in walks at McArthur Island. She serves as an inspiration to many new members who join her class after retirement, as they discover not only a fitness class but also a supportive community.
Her empathetic nature shines through in her interactions with participants who may be facing challenging times. Bodil listens attentively and provides guidance to those who need to modify movements in her classes due to physical pain. She genuinely cares for each participant, creating an environment that keeps them coming back, contributing to the popularity of her classes.
Moreover, Bodil actively encourages participants to explore other YMCA classes, inviting them to try a variety of options to find the right fit for themselves. Her influence extends beyond the class, as she motivates people to maintain their fitness throughout various stages of life. Her dedication and inspiration have earned her the title of a true role model to other folks on their personal fitness journeys, as described by many of her participants and nominators.
