At the YMCA of Kamloops, we understand the important roles that physical activity and mindfulness play in coping with stress and managing mental health. That’s why we have programs like the Growing Mindfully Parent Group, which helps support parents on their journey to become more active and learn healthy coping strategies.
A free group for parents whose children have completed Growing Mindfully (formally Mindful Monkeys) or Mind Outside 8-12. In this group, parents and guardians will learn the same mental wellness skills their children learned in the kid's group, as well as more in-depth knowledge about mental health, brain functioning, services in the community, and advocating for their children.
• Parents of children that have completed Growing Mindfully or Mind Outside 8-12.
• Opportunity to try a new mindfulness activity every week • Make new friends and have fun • Growing Mindfully is FREE; YMCA membership is not required • Participants receive a complimentary 9-week YMCA membership • Learn how to manage stress from experienced professionals in a safe environment
Please call the Mental Wellness Program Coordinator at 250-376-4771 ext. 122 or email mentalwellness@bc.ymca.ca (please include contact info & birth date)
